We Want Your
Referral!
Del Mar Data,
DMD, is determined to deliver extra value along with our services.
We are an old company in this young industry, vastly experienced,
but we're still hungry! We are willing to go the extra mile, work
longer, come in earlier, leave later, work evenings and weekends, do
whatever it takes to help your company realize unexpected value for
each dollar it spends with Del Mar Data. We want your referral
and we will endeavor to earn it.
Adventist Pioneer Library
Fred Bischoff, Secretary 909-824-1361
The Pioneer Library had thousands of pages of ancient newspaper
and journal printings detailing the history of the Adventist Church
in America that they wanted to make available on-line and
searchable. The originals we obtained were bad
copies of copies of 100+ year old newspaper pages that had been
reduced on a copier. The text was impossible for any OCR
program and almost impossible for human operators to read.
DMD scanned the originals in our local facilities and transmitted
the digital image files to India. Our associates in
India laboriously keyboarded the almost unreadable text and inserted
Folio software encodings. Many iterations were required
to obtain the required accuracy.
Dr. Francis Dann, Los Angeles
Dermatologist
Dr. Eric Yamaura 310-850-5787
Dr. Dann closed his office near UCLA in Los Angeles and wanted to
digitize all his medical charts so that the electronic files could
be preserved to meet his HIPAA requirement for patient access and
referral. DMD picked up all the charts in LA and scanned
them in our Rancho Santa Fe facilities. We converted the
images to PDF, naming each Chart after the patient's lastname and
firstname. We delivered the digital files by mailing
CDROM diskettes to Dr. Dann. Other doctors can now
immediately and easily obtain copies of Dr. Dann's former patients'
medical charts.
Capital Group--Los Angeles, CA Mr. Jose
Lemus 213-486-9585
When Capgroup
decided to digitize their entire historical library of investment
books and files, their library staff interviewed dozens of local Los
Angeles companies and chose DMD. During a 2-year project, DMD laboriously scanned
each page of hundreds of very old and unique books
that could not be unbound. Simultaneously we scanned boxes and
boxes of old files
that contained investment-related documents from all over the world.
Our deliverable PDF files were additionally formatted with General
Information field indexing to
accomodate the company's storage and retrieval system. Today Capgroup
has a digital investment reference library second to none in the
world!

University of California, San Diego
Summer Session, Laurinda Enos 858-534-8277
The University
Summer Session had accumulated thousands of Student Records.
Each student file contained the paper documents needed to affect
enrollment and subsequent disposition. The paper documents
varied from small cards to larger than normal forms, some printed on
both sides. We delivered multiple-page PDF files for each
student's record. The University can easily add pages if that
student takes a subsequent Summer Session course.
Menlo Dermatology Medical Group Karen
Bance 650-325-1511
MDMG chose Del
Mar Data to digitize thousands of paper medical charts. MDMG
incrementally shipped boxes of charts to DMD. We scanned the
paper files and converted the output to Acrobat PDF
which we delivered on CDROM. MDMG retrieves
each patient's electronic chart by simple alphabetic
lastname_firstname.PDF file search. Inexpensive and it
works! DMD discards the
paper charts after scanning because the PDF version is legally
acceptable.
Great Expectations-- Matchmaking Service
After a national search of capable providers, Great Expectations
chose Del Mar Data. This company had accumulated hundreds of
thousands of small folders, one for each customer. After we
executed an airtight confidentiality agreement they shipped over
100,000 file folders to our facility here. We scanned the
contents of each folder, including photographs and delivered digital
files by CDROM. They installed all the files into a computer
search and retrieval system so that they can be instantly retrieved
by client name.

When LLNL was
experiencing difficulty installing their second Xerox DocuImage
scanner-- primarily due to an unusual MAC/PC network combination,
DMD flew to LLNL and worked with the Reprographics department staff.
The system was operating smoothly shortly afterward--and then LLNL
bought 2 more DocuImage scanners! They now have 4 in
operation.
Library Reproduction Services Peter
Jones 310-354-2610
The LRS staff
started with almost no imaging experience and was unfamiliar with
Adobe Acrobat. After selling LRS two Xerox scanners, DMD spent two
days in LRS offices training the LRS staff to efficiently convert
paper documents to high quality PDFs. LRS now has SIX DocuImage
scanners.
Rio Grand Insurance Tom
Gallegos 505-984-8216
The RGI staff

annotate the TIFF images.

Anders 619-560-8051

Guidance experienced high operator labor required to edit text after
OCR, DMD suggested they try a DocuImage scanner on the same college
catalogs.
A labor
measurement comparison on documents scanned with the best Fujitsu
and the new DocuImage 620 resulted in a huge reduction in OCR
"suspects." Since labor quickly swamps all other costs, CGF put the
dustcover on their $40,000 Fujitsu! Career Guidance proved: "its the
scanner, Stupid!
DynCorp Ken
Curp 909-736-1266
DMR, a division
of Dyn, won a project to convert hundreds of old archives to PDF on
CDROM for electronic access. DMD sold them a Kodak 3500D for the
high quality originals and a Xerox DocuImage for a problematic
subset. DMR regularly finds that even though the Kodak is great, the
Xerox can get a workable image from pages no other scanner can
handle.
National Center for Health
Statistics Mr. Dick
Welsh 310-436-8586
After NCHS
